Saturday Market Newsletter May 30, 2026
Don't forget to try something new
A farmers' market invites you to try new things--kohlrabi, fresh mushrooms, a unique pepper sauce, lamb, Swiss chard, or a new lettuce variety. How about jalapeño strawberry jam? And, if you don't know the best way to use something new--ask the vendor. They love to share tips for using garlic scapes, methods of cooking a new cut of beef or lamb, and the ingredients in their tinctures and salves. Also, remember that many of the vendors have fresh-cut herbs at their tables. The market is truly a delight for your senses. (Fresh basil pictured here.)
We are open every Saturday through October 31 from 8 a.m. until noon. If it's a little overcast, put on your rain boots, pack an umbrella, wear your raincoat, but come to the market and support our local growers, makers, and bakers this Saturday on the square. You'll be glad you did. We love seeing those dedicated farmers' market customers who shop local (and fresh) on rainy days. Thank you!
And, don't forget to turn in your market loyalty card if this is your third market visit. You might win our May market drawing--over $60 in gift coupons from market vendors.

See you on the square.

The Murfreesboro Saturday Market is one of five Tennessee farmers markets on the new Tennessee Farmers Market Trail, that launched May 16. The trail highlights five Middle Tennessee farmers' markets, each offering its own mix of fresh produce, handmade goods, and community charm. From seasonal fruits and vegetables to baked goods and artisan products, every stop along the trail is a chance to meet local farmers, support small businesses, and explore something new. Visit each location, check in, and collect a one-of-a-kind sticker as you go. Complete all five stops and earn a special Farmers Market Trail tote—plus, every QR code check-in at the market enters you to win a $200 farmers market gift card to the market of your choice. Check the poster at our information tent to scan the QR code and enter for the July gift card drawing.
The Murfreesboro Saturday Market is excited to be a part of this first step in creating a state-wide trail of farmers markets. The trail connects farmers markets and agritourism destinations across Tennessee, inviting visitors to explore local food, meet farmers, and experience the rich agricultural heritage of our state. See the list of markets on the trail at our information tent or at the trail website, linked here.
