Community Transformation Strategy #1: Downtown for ALL AGES

Goal 1: Strengthen Marketing & Promotion

Task 1: Grow partnerships and launch "Downtown Business Member Directory" and "Business Promotion Campaigns" to reach targeted customers and support local downtown businesses.  Host "Monthly Meetups" for entrepreneurs and business owners.

Community Transformation Strategy #2: A vibrant mix of dining, shopping, services and entertainment.

Goal 1: Strenghten the local business mix

Task 1: Create and execute the "Entrepreneur Pathway" Task Force to recruit new talent.  Launch "Ambassadors" to ensure onboarding, networking, and support for downtown businesses.

Task 2: Utilize Tennessee Main Street Market Research tools to identify, grow, and recruit the needed "Downtown Business Mix."

Task 3: Maintain records through BOOMS Tracker of existing businesses, owners, and potential space. Market available downtown properties in conjunction with property owners.

Task 4: Implement "Downtown Business Recruitment" campaign in conjunction with business and property owners to retain, grow, recruit, and create needed downtown businesses.

Goal 1: Strengthen Marketing and Promotion

Task 1: Pursue the National Historic District accreditation through the state of TN.

Goal 2: Enhance Design and Placemaking

Task 1: Recognize Downtown Design renovations of local property and business owners.

Task 2: Oversee Downtown Facade grants for property enhancement improvements and oversee the Downtown Improvement grant from TNECD.

Task 3: Advise business and/or property owners in renovations and rehabilitation projects on facade changes.

Task 4: Advocate and guide decision-making to bring Wayfinding signage to the historic downtown district.

Task 5: Conduct a walkability study in partnership with City Departments (Street, Solid Waste, and Parks and Rec).

2026 Main Street Board Members


  1. Committed to diverse, inclusive, and equitable community engagement through the recruitment and training of volunteers that reflect the community it serves.  These volunteers will make up the Main Street Board and/or committees.
  2. Commitment for board members to demonstrate active engagement in the Main Street program to strategize, advocate, and connect the Main Street organization to the community and essential partners to carry out its mission.
  3. Committed to maintain, support, and provide guidance for the level of professional staff necessary to achieve the organizationโ€™s mission, goals, and annual work plan.
  4. Committed to develop and maintain the appropriate operational and organization practices to manage effectively.
  5. Committed to define and manage an annual strategy-driven work plan and aligned implementation process that brings the four points of the Main Street program together to successfully implement revitalization work through the organization. 
  6.  Implement an annual planning process informed by a comprehensive set of inputs

To position Main Street as downtown experts by advocating and collaborating with public, private and community partners to educate, inform, empower, and create a sense of place by cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and progressive revitalization program in the historic district.
